Celebrating International Allyship Day

Toast Careers

August 8th marks International Allyship Day, an opportunity to promote and celebrate the power of supporting and advocating for each other. At Toast, the day serves as a reminder that genuine allyship is an ongoing practice of listening, learning, and supporting each other to foster a sustainable culture of belonging.

“Early in my Toast career, I had the opportunity to host an Indian cooking class in partnership with Tapioca, the Toast community for Asian and Pacific Islander-identifying Toasters and our allies. Even though none of them were part of Tapioca, my whole team showed up for my after-hours cooking class, together, cooking with ingredients that were new to them. They welcomed my diversity and Indian heritage. I felt so supported and loved by them all! Their presence was support that all of my is welcome at Toast.”

- Krittika G., GTM Intelligence Lead (Boston, USA)

“My experience has taught me that true allyship isn't just about grand gestures, but about the consistent, intentional effort to create an environment where everyone feels safe, seen, and supported. It’s about understanding that psychological safety is the bedrock upon which all successful collaboration and innovation are built.”

- Laura N., Workplace Experience Coordinator (Ireland)

“When I started as a District Manager in Ireland, I connected with a lot of amazing people in Multigrain, our community for LGBTQIA+ Toasters and their allies, in our Dublin office. They really helped me understand what allyship means in action—not just in words. Being welcomed into that space opened my eyes to how important it is to show up, speak up, and be visible in your support. Since then, I’ve proudly marched in multiple Dublin Pride parades with my family, taken part in Multigrain events, and yes—even dressed up for a drag show in the office. These moments have stuck with me not because of the events themselves, but because of what they stand for—creating a culture where everyone feels safe, seen, and celebrated.

Most recently, I chaired a Multigrain event where we talked about the business impact of inclusion and the power of real allyship. Now, as I’ve moved into the RVP role in Australia, I see a massive opportunity. As we build this team from the ground up, allyship will be a cornerstone of our culture. It’s not just the right thing to do—it’s essential to building a team where people thrive.”

- Noel O., Regional Vice President (Australia)

“Allyship for me is about showing up and intentionally creating spaces where they're needed most. I'm particularly proud of 'Care Conversations' sessions, launched for the ToastHers, our community for women Toasters and their allies,  in India. The virtual session led by a seasoned doctor tackled critical, yet often unspoken women's health topics like PCOD, menopause, cervical cancer, and mental well-being. The impact ws amplified by inviting not just our team members, but also their allies and a female family member of their choice. This initiative recognized the 'invisible load' many women carry, empowering everyone to contribute to their well-being. This, to me, embodies allyship: facilitating genuine dialogue, dismantling taboos, and ensuring individuals feel profoundly seen and supported, both within and outside the workplace.”

- Neeharika J., Sr. Manager, Account Operations (Bangalore, India)

“I joined other Toasters at the Pride Parade in Boston to show my support for our LGBTQ+ community. Marching together—side by side with teammates, customers, and friends—was a powerful moment of allyship for me. It was about underscoring that everyone deserves to feel seen, safe, and celebrated at work and beyond. Being there in person, proudly walking in support, seeing so much joy, love and respect among the participants (including a customer who ran into the street to show us his Toast Go!) reinforced that our values come to life through how we show up for each other.”

- Susan R., Senior Manager, Toast.org (Boston, USA)

“I have experienced allyship that I believe has made an impact by listening, learning, and supporting friends, showing kindness to all, and by holding fundraisers on my socials for non-profits that support individuals struggling with mental health.”

- Kayla M., Customer Care Specialist II (Omaha, USA)
