Meet Numan, a Customer Care Expert based in Toast’s Ireland office, who brings warmth, quick thinking and a whole lot of heart to everything he does. From helping restaurants through high-stress situations to shaping product improvements behind the scenes, he’s a brilliant example of what it means to be part of Toast.

 

Can you tell us a little about yourself and your role at Toast?

I joined Toast in February 2024, as a Technical Customer Care Specialist. Since then, I’ve advanced to my current role as a Customer Care Expert. Based in our Ireland office, I am part of the team that supports restaurant and retail customers in resolving technical issues, navigating the platform, and making the most of everything Toast has to offer. This promotion reflected not only my personal growth but also Toast’s commitment to developing internal talent.

 

My role goes beyond just providing top-tier customer support. I also act as a key connector between our customers and the broader Toast ecosystem. Being on the frontlines allows me to identify recurring issues and work closely with cross-functional teams like Product Management and Software Development to advocate for improvements that truly benefit our customers.

 

It’s incredibly fulfilling to know that the insights I gather from daily interactions help drive long-term enhancements to the Toast platform.

 

What’s unique about working in the Ireland office, and how would you describe the team culture?

Working in the Ireland office is truly something special. We’re located right in the heart of Dublin City, just opposite the beautiful St. Stephen’s Green Park. The Ireland office strikes a perfect balance between local charm and global connection.

 

While we’re part of a larger international company, our team here has a close-knit, community feel. Everyone is genuinely supportive—whether it’s a quick Slack message or a casual chat over coffee in the kitchen, you always feel like you’re part of something meaningful.

 

The Ireland team is widely recognized across Toast for our collaborative, people-first culture and the positive energy we bring. It’s a place where you can be your full self—there’s a constant buzz of laughter and support, even on the busiest days and that helps keep morale high.

 

What I especially love is how much we value and celebrate different cultures. The team regularly organizes cultural events that reflect traditions from all over the world—think themed lunches, festive decorations and special activities that bring everyone together. These moments not only energize the team but also create a strong sense of inclusion and pride. I’m truly proud to be part of a workplace that embraces diversity and makes it part of our everyday experience.

 

Can you share a memorable customer interaction that made an impact on you?

One interaction that has really stuck with me involved a small family-run restaurant that was struggling during a particularly busy weekend service. Their system went down temporarily and the stress was palpable. I stayed on the line with them, calmly walked them through the issue and got everything up and running again.

 

At the end of the call, the owner actually got emotional and thanked me for not just solving the issue, but for “being human” and staying calm.

That moment really captured what makes Toast different—putting people first, even in high-pressure situations. It was a true reflection of one of our core Toast values and what it really means when we say, “We’re one Team”.

Moments like that remind me that our work goes way beyond tech support—it’s about showing up for people when they need us most.

How does Toast support your growth and career development?

Toast has truly been a game-changer for my personal and professional growth. One of the things I appreciate most is how Toast continuously creates opportunities for individuals to grow and shine.

 

Every day in my role brings new learnings and challenges that help me improve my skills and broaden my experience. Toast really fosters a learning environment where curiosity is encouraged and innovation is celebrated.

 

I’m currently working on an exciting project that explores how AI can be integrated into the Toast system—something I never imagined being part of so early in my career. But that’s the thing about Toast—there are no limits when it comes to growth and opportunity.

 

The support from leadership and managers is another key factor. They’re always approachable, encouraging and genuinely invested in helping you succeed. Whether it’s career development, skill-building or just having a sounding board, they make sure you never feel like you’re on your own. It’s this combination of opportunity, learning and support that makes Toast a truly empowering place to work.
