We’re thrilled to welcome Toasters to our new office space in Toronto, Canada!
Last month, we invited the team into our new coworking space, located on the corner of University Avenue and Dundas Street. Just a few blocks from Yonge-Dundas Square (soon to be Sankofa Square), this vibrant and lively area is in a central location with proximity to multiple subway lines and many delicious Toast restaurants.
“Our new Toronto office marks another significant milestone in Toast’s story. We are committed to growing our global footprint while maintaining the local touch that has always defined our success,” Gaurav N., Senior Director, Product Management reflected. “This new office is already fostering closer collaboration between our Canada-based Toasters, ultimately allowing us to better serve our international customers. I look forward to welcoming Toasters, customers, partners, and prospective customers to our office in the years to come.”
Once you enter the office, things get even more exciting! The Toast space is located on the 25th floor and offers gorgeous 360° views of Toronto. From up here, you’ll have unobstructed views of the CN Tower and Lake Ontario. The office itself offers a mix of private working spaces and communal collaboration areas. Whether you’re brainstorming with your team, catching up with coworkers over Zoom, or looking to meet fellow Toasters, there’s a space for everything! We even have a mural wall proudly displaying our new values, to help us all stay centered on Toast’s mission.
“This shows our growth as a team and is a great milestone,” shared Kevin D., AVP, International Sales. “That being said, we are still early on our journey. I'm happy that our teams can now collaborate in-person, even with Toasters who live in Toronto but support and are part of global teams ."
At Toast, we believe feedback is a gift and we love being able to hear what helps employees thrive. For example, our Canadian team recently expanded their benefits offerings after Toasters shared a few ways in which we could improve. Thanks to that feedback, we now offer enhanced parental leave, financial literacy programs, and additional health insurance coverage. In that same survey, we noticed that many Toasters in Toronto were eager to have a place where they could come together. We’re thrilled that employees shared this feedback with us and that we were able to take action and open this new space.
“It’s so exciting to see how the team has grown in Toronto and Canada over the past two years,” said Shawn G., Director, Talent Operations, Experience. “Our teams– including engineering, product, design, sales, onboarding, restaurant success, people, and more– collaborate incredibly well together. We are focused on our customers and it’s really impressive to see how we’re able to build great things.”
To celebrate this exciting occasion, the team came together on opening day to enjoy the new space, reconnect with fellow Toasters, and meet with leaders from across the business– including Mike G., Chief People Officer. It wouldn’t be a Toast event without delicious food, so Toasters enjoyed a team-wide lunch and attended a happy hour event hosted by local customers. It was a wonderful day for all!
