Toast continues to grow its partner ecosystem, and the Sr. Manager, Developer Advocate role will be a critical part of this growth. In this role, you will lead our Developer Advocate team. Our Developer Advocates are the voice of Toast with external developers (partners and customers) that are integrating with Toast, and you are the voice of these external developers for Toast engineers and product managers. This position plays a central role in the integration partner onboarding, development, and maintenance processes. This role will require a player-coach that gets their hands dirty helping our developers build integrations while also supporting the growth of individuals on the team and ensuring the team can scale to meet our business objectives. This role requires someone with a combination of strong skills in leadership, project management, technical investigation, communication, and coordination of resources from a variety of supporting teams. This position works closely with Product Management, Engineering, Sales, and Customer Support.

As Sr. Manager, Developer Advocate you will:

  • Lead a team of Developer Advocates supporting our external developers.
  • Map out processes for both one-on-one hands-on and many-to-one support models to help external developers efficiently build high-quality integrations.
  • Help define and scale the capacity of the team.
  • Create and evolve the resources (tools, documentation, processes) necessary to ensure a delightful developer experience  
  • Synthesize partner and customer feedback on Toast’s APIs and products, and present business case-based recommendations to the appropriate product management teams
  • Provide broad support to the partner ecosystem to share the value of integrating into the Toast Partner Ecosystem.
  • Work with our business development, partner product marketing, and customer success teams to move integration projects through the pipeline to launch

Do you have the right ingredients?

  • 5+ years of experience leading teams of Developer Advocates, Developer Relations, or other technical partner-facing teams
  • Experience building integrations with REST APIs and working knowledge of at least one programming language
  • Skilled at prioritizing and organizing multiple streams of work and can independently manage complex technical projects within a dynamic environment 
  • Strong communicator and collaborator
  • Motivated by customer and partner delight 

Preferred

  • Experience building strategic and community-based API Ecosystem support models.
  • Understanding of the hospitality space and the evolving market dynamics
  • Familiarity with Github and standard code release processes
  • Experience with SQL, Looker, and Splunk. 
  • BS/BA or MS degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related technical field or equivalent practical experience
