Toast.org is honored to be named a Benevity Corporate Goodness Awards winner!

Toast Careers

We are honored to share that Toast.org, the philanthropic arm of Toast, won a Corporate Goodness Award from Benevity!  Benevity is our partner in employee giving and volunteering, providing a platform for Toasters to engage in our social impact program.  Each year, Benevity’s Corporate Goodness Awards, also known as “The Goodies,” celebrate companies that are making a difference in the world and how they inspire other people through purpose. Toast was named the recipient of the NewB award, which celebrates recently launched partnerships with the most transformative approach to social impact.

Toast.org brings together the best of Toast – our people, our products, and our philanthropy – to further our  company purpose of enriching the food experience for all. Toast.org works within three impact pillars: food and nutrition security, building an inclusive and impactful restaurant community, and climate and the environment.

“Benevity has helped us with our integrated approach to impact,” shared Susan R., Senior Manager, Toast.org.  “As an increasingly global and hybrid distributed workforce, we know that one of the essential drivers of community, connection, and engagement is  the work that we do through Toast.org and volunteering.”

With a focus on empowering the Toast community, Toast.org not only provides grants to major partners across the globe, but also allows employees to direct funding in a multitude of ways. This ensures that we’re able to partner with organizations that are working towards creating a healthier, more sustainable food ecosystem for all, while also supporting causes that are important to employees.

What made Toast’s launch of Benevity so successful?

  1. Toasters were encouraged to explore all aspects of the platform. When we launched the portal, we seeded all employees accounts with $25 to donate to a cause of their choice, enabled a matching gifts program for annual employee donations up to $1,000, and organized volunteer events across the globe for Toasters to sign up for as soon as they created an account.
  2. We brought the entire Toast community together to give back. We engaged the Benevity platform to vet non-profit restaurants so our sales team could bring them onto the Toast platform. This allowed us to proceed with offering hardware donations and software discounts for restaurants that were making an impact in their communities. For existing customers, we partnered with Benevity to offer a “round up” feature, where restaurant guests could opt into making a donation with each meal transaction. Additionally, as a thank you to our Customer Advisory Board, we directed $10,000 in funding to an organization of their choice.
  3. Employees were empowered to make an impact. We worked with Toasters around the globe to host major volunteer campaigns, like Season of Giving, to ensure everyone had the opportunity to give back to their communities. Toasters were brought together across a variety of commonalities – geography, line of business, and areas of interest – to help causes that were important to them.

“In our first five months on the platform, we found a winning recipe for goodness: engaging Toasters in a variety of ways across departments and programs, trying new things, empowering teams, and amplifying their results,” reflected Susan. “We were able to support over 1,500 causes around the world and activate 40 local committee chairs to plan 150 volunteer events.”
