Toast Careers
Here at Toast, we’re lucky to be able to celebrate Hispanic/Latinx cultures all year long, thanks to our Spanish-speaking Emerging Markets team and Mi Gente, our Toast Community for Hispanic/ Latinx Toasters.
Our Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) team champions the uniqueness of all Toasters in many ways, including supporting Toast Communities, providing educational sessions open to all employees, facilitating networking sessions, and offering opportunities to attend conferences through our various partners. A great example of this happened this past May, when a group from Mi Gente was given the opportunity to attend the Latinas in Tech Summit, both virtually and in-person in San Francisco.
Latinas in Tech is the largest tech event for Latinas in the world. According to the organization, Latinas make up only 2% of the tech ecosystem, so they work to bring together the community for inspiration, motivation, and empowerment. The conference’s agenda had something for everyone–from networking sessions and discussions on overcoming adversity, to recruiting advice and deep-dives into the latest technology.
“My favorite moment as a member of Mi Gente was attending the Latinas in Tech Summit,”
Michelle H., Senior Product Manager, New Ventures Retail.
Marivel P.Q., Employee Cloud Sales Coordinator, had a similar experience. “It was amazing to get to spend a few days with a group of Latina Toasters and share the experience filled with so much growth, learning, connection, and fun! I’m really grateful Toast gave us that opportunity.”
Although the conference was certainly a highlight for those who attended, the energy and sense of community stretches far beyond the two-day event. The Mi Gente board works year-round to keep members connected and inspired.
“I joined Mi Gente because it gives me a sense of belonging and warmth. It has been so nice meeting other Toasters who share the same culture and bonding over the things we have in common,” shared Yazmin Z., Billing Representative II.
Through our conversation, Michelle, Marivel, and Yazmin all noted that the Mi Gente Community is a pillar in their Toast experiences and creates an inclusive, welcoming environment for all. Each member of the Community brings their own heritages and family traditions, and they are equally welcomed and celebrated.
“Having this space at Toast gives us a feeling of belonging and appreciation,” reflected Yazmin.
If you’re considering joining the Mi Gente Community, the advice from these Toasters is clear.
“¡Dale! Mi Gente gave me a sense of stability and community while moving teams and roles at Toast. Now I'm celebrating my 6th year here and I love making new connections with other Latinx Toasters,” reflected Michelle.
Marivel added: “Whether you identify as Latina/o/e/x or are an ally in seeing this community thrive, join us. ¡Los esperamos!”
