Toast’s New Boston Breadquarters

Paige M.

Senior Program Manager, Employer Brand

We are thrilled to share that Toast has officially cut the ribbon on our new headquarters– or Breadquarters as we like to call it! In March, we welcomed employees to our brand-new office in the Seaport area of Boston, Massachusetts.

“From the startup tech scene to the restaurant community we support to the various neighborhoods we’ve called home, the Boston area has always been welcoming to Toast,” said Aman Narang, CEO and Co-Founder of Toast. “When we dreamed up the idea for Toast in a bar in Kendall Square more than a decade ago, we never imagined the impact it would have on so many people and businesses. We are grateful to the greater Boston community for supporting us throughout the years, and look forward to opening our new space.”

Since we opened our headquarters in 2015 in the Fenway Park area, a lot has changed. We now have employees working in-office, remotely, or a mix of both, and we needed to update our offices to better support the diverse working styles of our employees. In the last few years, we have learned that Toasters love to use our spaces to gather and connect as a community. In our new office, we’ve prioritized more flexible spaces for better cross-functional collaboration. This includes spots for solo work and team meetings, event and social gathering areas, and spaces that inspire innovation. We even have a product demo space where we can welcome customers to learn more about our expansive product offerings. Food is ingrained in our culture, so we’re thrilled to have many customers just steps away from our new home!

We’ve infused our culture and values into the office design, which has created vibrant, inviting spaces. As a nod to our love of food, each floor represents a different meal– starting with breakfast and going all the way to a midnight snack. You’ll feel like you’ve feasted on all your favorite meals just by walking up and down the floors! Our values are displayed throughout the building, and Toasters from around the globe helped us create a mosaic by sharing photos that represent their lives at Toast.

“The design of Toast's new headquarters was a collaborative effort. We partnered closely with internal engagement partners, architects, and designers to develop a concept that integrates flexible workspaces, technology tailored to bolster our hybrid working model, and amenities that promote employee well-being and creativity,” shared Katie Vela, Senior Real Estate Program Manager. “We focused on inclusive design principles to create an inspiring and adaptable environment conducive to collaboration, innovation, and community.”

After months of planning, we were thrilled to welcome Toasters into the new space! Upon arrival, employees enjoyed breakfast and a latte bar, complete with Toast-inspired foam art. From there, they were invited to tour the new office, which included a history lesson on the neighborhood and major office highlights, such as our social gathering spaces, wellness rooms, new hybrid-focused meeting rooms, and an onsite gym.

Once everyone was settled, we gathered together for a ribbon-cutting ceremony, where Co-Founders Aman Narang and Steve Fredette and Chief People Officer Annie Drapeau shared a few words about Toast’s values and their excitement for our future. This was a wonderful moment for all of us to reflect on Toast’s journey and focus on how we can continue to empower the restaurant community.

After celebrating with a delicious lunch and a literal toast to Toast, employees were invited to a series of leadership coffee chats. The coffee chat program is designed to give Toasters the opportunity to hear from leaders in a more casual setting. Topics of discussion range from career growth to professional advice and favorite hobbies outside of work. Transparent and open communication is a cornerstone of Toast’s culture, and this is just one of the many ways we all stay connected.

Throughout the week, we’ll continue to find new ways to enjoy the space. Toast.org, our social impact arm, will partner with a local organization to host  a cooking class. After the class, all of the prepared meals will be donated to a large soup kitchen in Massachusetts. We will also offer a Toaster-led yoga class in our onsite gym and engage in some friendly competition with a game of basketball. Most importantly, we’ll be able to see Toasters connect and collaborate in new ways, which will help us all continue to thrive together.

This move represents an exciting chapter in the Toast journey, and we can't wait to create new memories here. The best is yet to crumb
