For today’s talent, a job is often more than a paycheck; it’s an opportunity to make a measurable impact.
At Toast, we integrate that purpose into our culture through Toast.org – our social impact team.
This spring, our global community participated in our annual Toast to the Earth campaign. In addition to being a series of volunteer events around the world, it was also a demonstration of how we use our scale to fight food insecurity and support the environment, setting the stage for our End Summer Hunger campaign.
From Boston to Bangalore, Chicago to Chennai, and Dublin to Toronto, Toasters stepped away from their desks to volunteer alongside other employees and restaurant partners in their local communities.
One of our standout projects this year involved planting a harvest projected to produce 10,000 pounds of tomatoes for local families. It’s this connection between our restaurant community and our commitment to the planet that makes the employee experience here unique.
For Em L., a Sales Enablement Manager, participating in Toast.org initiatives brings our core values to life.
"Volunteering with Toast.org has taken me from planting vegetables at farms to packing Thanksgiving boxes for families in need," Em shares. "Each experience reminds me that our work is grounded in something bigger than technology—it's about real people. I love working at a company that doesn't just talk about social impact, but shows up for it."
We believe in transparency and data-driven results. When candidates join Toast, they become part of a team that moves the needle on global issues.
Through this campaign, we hosted over 50 volunteer events worldwide, with one million meals being provided through 22 food rescue organizations. We directed $200,000 in grants to food rescues and community gardens and Toasters earned over $9,000 in volunteer rewards.
We empower our employees to lead their own giving journeys. New this year, Toast offered a first-ever 200% match on all donations to food rescue organizations. This means our team members don't just donate; they triple their impact, supported by a company that shares their values.
For Tony R., a Principal Territory Account Executive and the Toast.org committee chair, these initiatives change how we think about business relationships. "Honestly, some of my favorite experiences at Toast have come from volunteering in the community. Moments like these remind me that great partnerships are built on shared values, not just business," Tony notes. "After spending time volunteering with Hunger Task Force here in Wisconsin, it was especially meaningful to see Toast.org amplify employee donations with a 200% match, helping local organizations make an even bigger impact in the communities we call home.”
We are building a culture where "hospitality" is a mindset, not just an industry. By participating in activations like Toast to the Earth, our team members grow as leaders, connect with our customers, and build a world where the restaurant community can thrive.
“Our Toast to the Earth initiatives included community cooking, seed ball planting, sapling planting, and spending meaningful time in the community. This field trip had the elements that connected humans to nature and humanity to the people,” reflected Kanagaraj L., Senior Manager, Customer Care.
We’re just getting started. With Toast’s 2nd Annual End Summer Hunger Campaign currently happening, there has never been a better time to bring your talent to Toast.
